The Biotechnology Society of Tanzania (BST) is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation (NGO) dedicated to promoting advancement and use of biotechnology in the country. The membership is open to scientists, researchers, academicians, farmers, consumers, manufactures, traders, policy and decision makers, industries, media, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and community based organisations (CBOs) interested or involved in fostering, developing and supporting application of biotechnology tools and information in various sectors of the economy to enhance the living standards of people. The BST is registered as NGO under Section 12(2) of the Non-Governmental Organisations Act No. 24 of 2002 with registration No. 00NGO/0008784 with effect from 13th October 2016.

Improving Lives Through Science

membership

Membership of the Society is open to individuals and organizations interested or involved in fostering, developing and supporting the application of biotechnology in the country. Any company, association, individual or other body may apply to the Executive Secretary to become members of the Society.
